Once again, a 2011 Oscar nominated movie (very)
pleasantly surprises me. And that makes it quite a few already, The Social
Network, Inception, Toy Story 3, The Fighter, 127 Hours, and, although far away
from the rest, True Grit.
A heartbreaking power, added to a sublime soundtrack, the best words to describe it.

Don’t get fooled, this is not a happy story about a
ballerina. It’s a psychological thriller with high tension moments, and tough
scenes that will keep us awake. As an example, the tub’s scene, or Nina’s
(Natalie Portman) visit to Beth (Winona Ryder) at the hospital (the second
time, of course).
A combination of music, photography, poetry… art. The
first scene already had me on the edge of my seat, the strength it transmits, the
scene edition, the fluency given by every note we hear. I loved the editing,
with very unusual and original scenes, awarding the movie with its own style. Just
as photography, very meticulous, and amazing special effects.
About the performances, even though I feel sad
watching Natalie Portman suffer, I must admit she totally deserved the Award,
showing us that suffering, and her ways to “fight it”. Vincent Cassel fits
perfectly motivating Nina. Also motivating our star, Mila Kunis throws a great
performance. Finally, can’t avoid stressing how Winona Ryder looks as young as
ever.
With an ending entirely appropriate to the master
piece on our hands, I believe that this movie will leave nobody indifferent.
